Crime Shows

Have you picked up on the fact that I’m a great big geek? I adore all the super hero shows that are out there (DUDE!!) along with things like Doctor Who (you noticed that, right?).  But I have rather eclectic tastes, all told, and I like stuff OTHER than just geeky-stuff.

One of those things that my son and I have found ourselves addicted to for many, many years at this point are crime shows.

It’s not like there’s only one or two of those out there.

But it’s something that he and I do together.

Not really the legal side of it. Not Law and Order or anything like – I’m talking about procedural crime shows. Catching the bad guys! Figuring out who was the Big Bad, why they did it, sometimes HOW they did it.

Alright, I admit, it sometimes gives me a few ideas, too…

We’ve got a few shows we’ve been picking at for a while, too. Criminal Minds, NCIS, Bones, Hawaii 5-0, Crossing Jordan.

Recently, we’ve picked up Rosewood (I may be in love…).

Don’t get me wrong – seeing some of these is rough. Seeing the worst of the worst, even if it is dramatized. There will be times we watch one of these, and if it’s really rough – and let’s face it, there’s plenty of them that are – and we’ll take a mini-break after to watch something light, but seeing the good guys win? Figuring out the why and stopping the Big Bad from doing something worse…

Then there are times that, as we’re watching, both of us have to stop it and go “Wait… wait… that’s not right. It won’t work that way…” Then we both hop on Google and try to figure out if whatever scientific bit of something they just spouted off was actually legit or fully of shi-

Well, you get the point.

So while there’s a lot of great stuff in these shows, it still inspires us to learn more at the same time.

I’m not gonna lie – I love it when my boy figures out the way or why before I do. It’s been happening more and more of late, or at least it picks up at around the same time. That’s freaking awesome.

So tell me, do you like crime shows? What’s your fav?  I’m always looking for more suggestions!
